Bryn Jones, M.A.Sc., P.Eng.
Bryn Jones, M.A.Sc., P.Eng., is the Principal Engineer with FRS and a professor of building systems engineering at Conestoga College and the University of Waterloo. Bryn’s areas of expertise include asset management and capital planning, building systems engineering and building performance assessments, building and fire code consulting, fire performance engineering and fire testing, building commissioning, and new and existing construction design for climate resiliency, asset preservation, and life cycle cost optimization.

His asset master plans for various vertical assets are used to support decision making related to budgeting and requests for additional funding for capital maintenance, functional upgrades and/or repurposing of assets.
Due to his wide breadth of knowledge in the asset management industry and his academic research specialty in fire safety engineering, his clients have also engaged him to provide day-to-day facilities management services including building and fire code retrofit studies, building science investigations, climate change impact studies and preparation of budget and scope of work for capital replacement, change of use, and AODA compliance projects. Bryn is also often engaged by municipalities to support internal program development of asset management policies and programs to help guide their overall strategic direction towards compliance with the Municipal Asset Management planning regulation (O.
